Terms of Use
Short version: read it, share it, correct us — just do not pass it off as your own or rely on it instead of a vet.
1. Who we are
Cluck Atlas is an independent educational publication about domestic chickens, operating the website at leadrouteoravex.org. Contact: hello@leadrouteoravex.org.
2. What this site is for
Everything published here is general educational information about chicken biology, behaviour, breed history and husbandry. It is written carefully and reviewed against published literature, but it describes chickens in general — not your chicken, on your ground, in your climate.
Nothing on this site is veterinary advice. If a bird is unwell, injured or behaving abnormally, consult a qualified avian veterinarian. Do not delay seeking professional help because of something you read here. Likewise, husbandry regulations — on registration, movement, biosecurity and avian influenza housing orders — differ by country and change frequently, and it is your responsibility to check the rules that apply where you keep birds.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the site in any way that breaks the law or infringes anyone else's rights;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, its server, or any connected system;
- introduce malicious code, or attempt to interfere with the availability of the site;
- scrape the site at a rate that degrades it for other readers, or bypass any technical restriction we put in place;
- use automated systems to harvest the email addresses published here for unsolicited messages;
- reproduce substantial parts of the content as your own, or use it to train a system that reproduces it verbatim without attribution.
4. Intellectual property
The text, photographs, illustrations, layout and code on this site are owned by Cluck Atlas or used with permission, and are protected by copyright.
What you may do without asking
- Read, print and save pages for your own use.
- Quote a reasonable extract — a paragraph or so — with a visible credit and a link back to the page.
- Link to any page here from anywhere, provided the link does not suggest an endorsement or association that does not exist.
What needs permission
- Republishing a whole article, or a substantial part of one.
- Using our photographs or illustrations anywhere, for any purpose, including editorial use.
- Any commercial use, including inclusion in a paid product, course or publication.
Requests go to press@leadrouteoravex.org and are usually granted for non-commercial educational use.
5. Accuracy and corrections
We take accuracy seriously and describe our verification process on the About page, but we cannot warrant that every statement is free from error or fully current. Scientific understanding moves; so do regulations. Where the published evidence is genuinely disputed we say so on the page rather than choosing the neater answer.
If you find a mistake, tell us at corrections@leadrouteoravex.org. We amend the page and add a dated note describing the change.
6. Links to other sites
We link to third-party sources — journals, archives, agencies and browser vendors — because a claim you cannot check is not much use. We do not control those sites, are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices, and a link is not an endorsement.
7. Anything you send us
If you send us a correction, a question or a suggestion, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use it in improving the site, including publishing an anonymised version of the correction. Please do not send us confidential information. We do not pay for unsolicited submissions.
8. Availability
The site is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do not promise uninterrupted access, and we may change, suspend or withdraw any part of it — including whole pages — without notice.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cluck Atlas and its editors are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, this site, or from reliance on anything published here. This includes loss of livestock, loss of profit, loss of data and any indirect or consequential loss.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you are a consumer, these terms do not affect your statutory rights.
10. Privacy
How we handle personal data is set out in the Privacy Policy, and the specific cookies we use are listed in the Cookie Policy. Both form part of these terms.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The “last updated” date above always shows the current version, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK or the EU, you keep the benefit of any mandatory protections of the law of your country of residence.
